Please note that in the event of severe weather (e.g. deep snow or blizzard conditions) we will do our absolute and utmost to open the school. However, the health and safety of everyone is paramount and there may be occasions when it is appropriate to close the school due to insufficient staffing or dangerous driving conditions.
It would be prudent for those of you who work to have contingency plans in place so that if school does have to close you are not caught out. There is a variety of ways in which you can find out if school will be closed:
Before 8.30 a.m.
a) Check Bolton council website www.bolton.gov.uk.
b) We will send out a message on Arbor as soon as possible.
c) If you haven’t received a text message by 8.20 a.m school will be open as usual.
d) Keep and eye on our social media (facebook/twitter). We will update this straight after Arbor messages go out.
It is important that phone lines are kept open before 8.15 a.m. to ensure that staff are able to inform the office whether they are able to get into school. You will receive a text in the unlikely event of school closure.
After 8.40 a.m.
If we need to close the school after 8.40 a.m., it will only be to ensure the health and safety of the pupils. The reasons may be:-
a) Insufficient staff
b) Unsafe building
c) Insufficient heating
We will then telephone or text parents to ask that the children are collected.
If the weather deteriorates during the day where you are (eg beyond Little Lever) parents are asked to use their own judgement and telephone school.
